Southminster This Week

Friends,

You all have busy lives, and although we all strive to make Sunday worship a priority I know that often health concerns, weather, and family needs sometimes make it difficult to be present.

In an effort to keep you connected even when you can't be in worship and provide that spiritual nourishment we all long for we are making an effort to record our Sunday services.

We hope to make each week's video available on the website by Wednesday afternoons barring technical difficulties. This last Sunday's recording didn't turn out, but you can click on the link below to find our other current videos. I hope that you will bookmark the page so that you can always find it when you need it and feel free to share a favorite service with a friend as well!

Peace,

Caitlin Deyerle

Southminster This Week

Friends,

A big thanks to all of you have who have been a part of making Caritas possible this week! Because of your efforts we have been able to give 40 women who would have otherwise been out on the street a warm bed and three healthy meals a day. You all have truly been the hands and feet of Christ this week!

If you didn't get a chance to help out this year-- make a note to be a part of this amazing project next year! We always love to welcome new people to the team.

Peace,

Caitlin Deyerle

Caritas

Friends,

As you know this coming week is our annual week to host our guests from Caritas. For those of you who do not know, Caritas is a great organization here in the Richmond area that partners with churches to provide temporary housing for women, men and families who are going through a difficult time and have found themselves without a roof over their heads. Caritas also has many programs to help these women and men find jobs and access the resources they need in order to rebuild their lives. To learn more about Caritas, go to their website here.

Many of you have already signed up to donate food, to help cook, clean or set up, and to stay over night to make sure our guests have someone on hand at all times. We are still looking for a few overnight hosts, if you are interested email me this week!

Most of all-- I would ask you all to pray for our guests, volunteers and Caritas staff this week that God would work through Southminster to show love and grace to these women in need.

Peace,

Caitlin Deyerle

Souper Bowl of Caring

Friends,

As you make your plans to settle in for the big game on Sunday evening don't forget to put a little something extra in your wallet this Sunday for our annual Souper Bowl of Caring collection!

Our own Southminster Youth Group will be banging their soup pots to rustle up some extra support for two great local hunger fighting organizations. Half of what we raise will go towards our own Southminster Food Closet and the other half will go to the Salvation Army to support their work with the homeless and hungry of Richmond.

Click here to find out more about the Souper Bowl of Caring movement-- it was started by a Presbyterian church youth group just like ours and has spread across the country and the world to empower youth to fight hunger in their local communities!

Peace,

Caitlin Deyerle
