Southminster Food Closet

Southminster operates a Food Closet that houses and distributes food to families in need by appointment twice a week, serving up to eight families per week.  This is an ecumenical effort. We partner with other churches that help support our mission, and serve over 300 families a year.  Our clients range from the elderly with extremely high medical bills to multi-generational families dealing with lay-offs and unemployment. 

For thirty years, Southminster was a member of CCHASM (Chesterfield Colonial Heights Alliance for Social Ministry).  With CCHASM's closure in June 2026, we look forward to a new partnership with the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center as our touchpoint for client intake and resources.

Donate to the Food Closet

The mission of the Southminster Food Closet would not be possible without the generous support of our members, our partner churches, and our friends and neighbors in the community.  If you would like to donate to the Food Closet, here is a list of commonly-needed items.  All food items are welcome so long as they are unopened and within their expiration dates.  Monetary donations are always welcome to help us fill in the gaps in our supplies.
